Microsoft Shakes Fist At vLite, Provides Alternative Vista Tips Feb 4, 2008 - Carl Bloor - Permalink

Microsoft is voicing its disapproval of the recent vLite tool that allows users to build their own customized and optimized version of Windows Vista.
Aside from losing tight control over the Vista installed base, Microsoft is (rightly) warning of possible sided effects of these custom Vista builds which may cause problems when it comes time to update Windows' various components and possibly as far as causing irreparable damage to the system.

To counter the move, Microsoft has published some helpful tips for Vista users to tune up their system to run faster and better. They suggest services be shut down, memory optimized, hard drives be defragged and even go as far as to suggest you buy more RAM or a new computer!
